Candy Making Continued
I had such a great experience making hard candy. I love to experiment with the different flavors. I love the fruit flavors and the mint flavors. So yummy.
I did purchase from our local Hobby Lobby (no endorsement) the candy molds you see in the picture. These are fabulous!!! I love them. I did end up getting three as by using all of them I can put all the liquid candy in the molds with no left over. The pieces are a great size and shape. Also there are no sharp edges like I found when I put the candy flat to cool off in a cookie sheet. They are easy to wash up and store so I have used them repeatedly and each time the candy turns out great. I'm starting to explore flavors to start making candy for friends and family for Christmas gift.
To use the molds I spray them with a baking spray and then put them flat on an old towel on the kitchen counter. Once the candy is made I carefully ladle the liquid candy into the mold and let it slowly spread to the different compartments. The candy cools and easily comes out of the molds and then I just coat them with powdered sugar so the candy pieces do not stick to each other. The end product looks very professional. My friends and family thought my last batch was store bought!! Little did they know I can pick my favorite flavor and share with them.
